Apnea
– (n) • ap-ne-a
A suspension or absence of breathing.

In a time of unending war, a war that had burned the
earth like fire for so long that there wasnt
a single person alive who had known anything else,
a new hope was born. His name was Jon Tate. Miraculously,
only one other birth was recorded that day: a girl
named Sandy McNamara. No one could have known the
importance their lives would eventually play in the
future of humanity.
All aspects of life were shaped by the war. The media,
politics, education, religion... All things revolved
around the struggle for power. As the pool of power
grew smaller and as nations crumbled, people became
even more desperate and afraid.
Jons parents, Jeff and Karen, knew from the
beginning that their child was unique. From an early
age his intelligence glowed like a lighthouse in a
world shrouded in fog. His mother, a celebrated robotic
engineer, nurtured his genius by showing him the trade
of invention and giving him endless love and encouragement.
His father, however, was determined to put his sons
abilities to the use of the government. "A gift
like this," he said, "was the right of all
people. We have no right to keep it to ourselves."
Although his intentions were noble, he was a stern
disciplinarian.
Despite his aptitudes, Jon was
very much alone in the world. At the age of seven, where
he attended school with people three times his age,
his only friend was a young girl who lived across the
street: Sandy McNamara. Their friendship only lasted
a few short months before her parents moved away, and
Jon was devastated.
In tribute to his only friend, Jon created his first
robot, SAN-D4000, in her honor. Even using a captured
sample of her voice, it was as if Sandy had never left
him.

In the years that followed,
Jons accomplishments in robotics outstripped
his mother´s. Hailed as the "wonder child",
the spotlight of the worlds expectations grew
brighter and brighter.
At the age of sixteen, Jon and his family received
a great honor... an invitation to live in the underwater
city of Seascape. It was a community built to protect
the nations wealthiest and most valuable people
from the perils of war at the surface. It was here
that Jon would complete the final phases of his government-controlled
education. Once his education was completed, he was
expected to put his gifts to work for all of humanity.
The Apneist is the story of the rise and fall of
Jon Tate, the man responsible for the end of the world.
As he sank to his doom, his life started to flash
before his eyes, revealing the path that led him to
that point... Each song on this album represents a
flashback...
